Cory Shuford, CFP®

Cory’s greatest satisfaction as a financial planner comes when he helps his clients achieve their financial goals. “I love seeing the joy in clients’ faces when they know their financial house is in order and they can now direct their focus on how they want to live their lives, knowing money and finances won’t prevent or derail their plans,” he shares.

Clients appreciate Cory’s clear explanations of complex financial concepts. Instead of using jargon to impress, he listens attentively before offering advice. “When it is my turn to talk, I want to make sure they understand exactly what we’re doing, but even more importantly, why we’re doing it,” he explains.

Cory’s father was a banker who taught him the value of saving money. He has been a financial planner his entire career, spending five years at LPL Financial and another six years at a local financial firm before co-founding WealthPoint Advisors in 2021. A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and fiduciary, he has passed the Series 7 and 66 securities exams and has his life, health, disability, long-term care and annuity insurance licenses. Cory graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in 2010.

Cory encourages those who are financially ready for retirement to embrace it and focus on what is truly important. “Spend time doing the things that ultimately matter to you in life,” he advises. “Travel, visit children and grandchildren, see old friends, learn something new! Don’t let your time slip away.”

Cory and his wife, Amanda, met at NC State and have been married for almost nine years. They have two daughters, Parker and Lennox, a son, Taron, and two dogs, Chloe and Bentley. Away from the office, Cory loves spending time with his family, golfing and playing in a recreational volleyball league with Amanda and friends.
